Is it Safe to Buy Cars for Sale on the Roadside?
Many people prefer to buy a used car rather than a new car, mainly to save money and keep within their budget. It is certainly true that there are many bargains to be had in the used car market. Used cars for sale can be found in car saleyards, advertised in the paper, on the Internet, or sitting by the side of the road with the price scribbled on the front window.
But is it safe to buy a car for sale on the side of the road? It can be if you know what you are doing. Every purchase contains an element of trust and some people just assume that the person who is selling the car is just as trustworthy as they are. Happily, in many cases this is true, but there are occasions when it is not.
When you see a car for sale on the side of the road, the first thing you will do is stop to look at it. Of course, there is no way you can take it for a spin or look under the bonnet yet. You must contact the owner first and get the key and his permission to look further. Usually there will be a phone number there to contact the seller.
Once youve done this, you will be able to look at the car more thoroughly, and if you dont know a whole lot about cars, you will need to take someone with you who does. A mechanic would be a good choice. But once you decide the car is just what you want, you also need to inspect the paperwork. Make sure there is a pink slip and that the details on it are the same as those on the car.
